Full Court Press Against the Crazies

[tweetmeme source="Wuzhatnin_com" alias="http://bit.ly/bchigh"]White House Communications Director Anita Dunn had 4 words for Fox News and the town hall tea baggers, deather-birthers, and your typical assault-rifle-carrying Christmas shopper:“We will fight back.” This in reference to all the negative press the Obama administration withstood over the summer recess. She essentially stated that the administration does not mind engaging in spirited debate with the opposition but will no longer tolerate falsehoods and mis-characterizations of administration policy.

To be sure, there are many organizations that seek to oppose the Obama agenda such as Freedomworks and the RNC. Dunn took particular pains to specify that FOX News is the principal enemy. When asked if she is failing to differentiate between the news and opinion shows on Fox, she cited specific examples of bias in Fox news coverage then added, “Let’s not pretend they’re a news organization like CNN is.”

Of course her assertions about Fox compliment the findings about the network in our article about news sources. Nevertheless, this will likely be an up hill climb for the Obama administration. It is very difficult to get people to question things that feed into their perceptions because they typically look for things that reinforce what they believe rather than dispute it. Still, for those who are open-minded the interview is worth seeing.

This is exactly what has been needed for a long time. I would be happy if they just substantiated any of their of the claims. Let’s deal with the real world.
