Where the boys Czar

And we have a winner! The next silly topic chosen by those good old boys to deflect attention from the real debate about health care is the appointment by the president of so called “czars” to head various departments or functions within government. Never mind that Republican presidents have appointed czars as well. In fact, Bush 43 appointed 49 of them. Of course modern Republicans are loathe to let facts discourage them from arguments they think will resonate with the conservative base. Since intelligent people tend to want at least some logic interspersed among the major points of an argument, and since they don’t have any logic to speak of, they are content for the time being to limit their side of the discussion to the kind of fluff that only appeals to cretins, morons, and the far-right, tooty-fruity, fringe element. You know, the kind of bozos that show up to rallies with assault rifles. Yep, only a matter of time before that goes wrong.

Czar Peter the Great, FOX NEWS is afraid Obama will appoint more of these.

Czar Peter the Great, FOX NEWS afraid Obama wil make more of these.

The fact is, that there no such thing as a czar in today’s world. It is a position that does not exist anywhere in the federal government. Czar is simply a word the press has chosen, to colloquialize long, drawn-out position names that take more breath to speak than is worth the effort. People (mainly the press) use the word to replace names like Chief Secretary of the Federal Bureau of Investigative blah blah. You can see how much easier it is to call him the “blah blah Czar” instead.

It is amazing that so many congressmen and Fox reporters are trying to tie the word’s modern usage to its Russian heritage.  I was getting quite frustrated that no one in the press had pointed out how nonsensical this was until Friday. I couldn’t understand why reporters on CNN, ABC, NBC, or CBS didn’t simply point to pre-Obama administration headlines like this one. How can this be unique to Obama if even Regan, the conservative’s most anointed leader of the last century had czars as well? Simple. When you throw red meat to the wolves, they attack without conscious thought–and that’s exactly what those on the far-right fringe are doing, behaving like a pack of rabid wolves.

I guess the President has no choice now but appoint a new czar to get a handle on this. We can call him the czar Czar. I know just the guy: Samuel L. Binks, p.h.d. or czar Czar Binks for short…
