Lou Dobbs: For That Really Great Commentary (wink wink)

Lou Dobbs in full spewI remember when Lou Dobbs was a news anchor man. He was good. A very credible news man. Then one day, I read an article about Lou Dobbs testifying on Capitol Hill about immigration reform. I thought, “Now why would he be doing that? What qualifies him to give “expert testimony” to Congress?” Apparently, something happened to the English definition of the word expert. It seems that all you have to do to be an expert is rant incoherently on tv about an issue. The more devoid of facts your argument is, the more seriously you are taken.

He is being taken more ’seriously’ as the days go by as evidenced by Steven Colbert’s attempt to set a new world record of Mexican insults during a recent show. (If you can’t view it you can get the entire show via bittorrent.) You know you have hit the big time when you find yourself in competition with Colbert for silliest world record.

Now there is a movement to get him off the air in favor of real news. I guess it was only a matter of time until members of the Hispanic community had had enough of his um…attention. He is now in the good company of the likes of Glenn Beck on the short list of people who have ranted themselves into a corner. The number of sponsors who have left Beck’s show was over 40 at last count. Maybe Lou Dobbs will break that record as well.
